Natural products have provided important therapeutic uses in several areas of medicine. The plant of Ageratum conyzoides were reported to possess good wound healing activity. The present study deals with microscopical analysis, preliminary phytochemical analysis and physicochemical parameters like Ash value, Loss on drying, Extractive values which could be a useful tool to prepare a monograph for proper identification of plants. Different solvents like petroleum ether, methanol+water and water were used for extraction and these extracts were subjected to preliminary phytochemical screening which reveals the presence of alkaloids, flavonoides, carbohydrates, tannins and phenols. The powdered plant was also subjected to fluorescence analysis using different chemicals.
